One Small Step for Man
And one giant step for... me.
Beginning September 3rd, 2004 I have begun to live in a place we call university. More specifically, at the University of Waterloo in Village 1, building West 4, room 114. For the first two days, it was only a handful of people at the university. On my floor, I only had my don and another RCC. It was nice and quiet. Friday was move-in day followed by a barbeque with the rest of the RCCs on campus. Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm was training while being served breakfast, lunch and dinner somewhere between said time.
Sunday was move-in day for a good handful of people from UHS. It was the north and south quads. So we got Jason, Ian, Leticia and Sarah and handful of others. Arnold and I helped Leticia move-in and I helped Jason afterwards because Arnold ran off to UWPlace to get his RCC id badge. Monday was move-in for East and West. As well as for Katie since she was moving into Laurier. Spent my time with Jason and the others. Monday was also move-in day for my building and because of that, it also meant that I had to be there for some silly floor meeting to get to know everyone. There was also the Opening Ceremonies which I didn't even bother attending because I wasn't signed up for orientation. A pleasant surprise was that Katie decided to come visit me with Elvin and Rachael so I went over to SLC to find them.
Onwards... so Tuesday was the start of orientation. I thought it was going to be boring. And boring. Since everyone was going to be at orientation. Then somehow, Katie ended up coming to V1. Ya... then Arnold and Brenda came and left. It was like a party! In my room at V1! Now it's Wednesday... and I still need to do some things.
Somewhere between all these things, I get called and asked to help connect people's computers to ResNet. That's what my position as RCC includes. Most have been fairly nice. You know, follow them a short walk to their room and I do my work. Of course, I get one incident where I am called while I am napping... to be asked to help them connect to ResNet. Of course, I can't say no... even though I have to go walk from V1 to REV to help them connect to ResNet and proceed to walk back after my work is done.
Haven't met too many people. I've run into a lot of people though that I know. So this was my post about what I've done physically since I've moved. I haven't really talked about what I thought about university or what it means to me. You know.. the mental and emotional stuff. All that stuff can come in another post since well, I'm just lazy and I was asked to post something since I haven't posted anything following my arrival to university.
